For the release of the iPhone 15 generation, Apple has introduced an update to its camera app that allows for automatic depth data capture whenever the device’s machine learning detects a person or pet in the frame.

The recent ‘glitch’ in the iPhone’s computational photography turned out to be a failed panoramic shot, as discovered by YouTube channel iPhonedo. Instagram user Tessa Coates uploaded a photo that showed three instances of a scene in a single image, but it was revealed that the photo was taken using the panoramic mode on the iPhone 12.

What would you think if a photo showed someone standing in front of a mirror but the reflection in the mirror didn’t accurately show how the person is standing? Most would be surprised, stunned, and even possibly scared.

An iPhone user in the UK has discovered three different versions of herself in the same photo, thanks to an error in the way the shot was assembled on the back end.

After sharing a video promoting the Personal Voice feature introduced this year with iOS 17, Apple has now published another video on its YouTube channel. More specifically, there’s a new ad for the iPhone 15 that shows the Smart Portrait Mode feature in action.

This year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max features a tetraprism telephoto lens, giving it the longest optical zoom range in an iPhone at 5x. It seems that next year’s iPhone 16 Pro may adopt this feature based on a recent Apple supply chain report.

Apple is expected to bring tetraprism camera technology to both iPhone 16 Pro models next year, enabling at least 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom on the Telephoto lens. The iPhone 15 Pro has a 12-megapixel Telephoto camera that offers 3x zoom, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max is using an upgraded Telephoto system that allows for 5x zoom.

New reports suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature the tetraprism camera lens, which is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is expected to be available on both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the smaller iPhone 16 Pro.

On any iPhone 15 model, users can convert a picture of a person, a dog, or a cat into a portrait after the picture has been processed. And to make this feature even better, you can shift the focus on any of the subjects of the photo.

Apple is set to release the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models next year, and they will come with significant upgrades in the camera department. The iPhone 15 Pro Max currently features a tetraprism lens with a glass and plastic hybrid lens for improved zoom capabilities.
