Apple is reportedly planning to upgrade the cameras on its iPhone 16 Pro models with a pair of 48MP camera sensors, according to a Weibo post by user Instant Digital. This would be a significant improvement for the ultrawide angle lens, which has traditionally used a 12MP sensor.

Rumours are emerging about the potential camera enhancements of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max, set to launch in 2025. Industry analyst Jeff Pu has shared insights into the potential camera features of the device, specifically highlighting a 48MP periscope telephoto camera optimised for video recording with Apple Vision Pro.

The iPhone 16 Pro may feature a second 48-megapixel sensor in its triple-camera setup, according to a leaker on Weibo. The current iPhone 15 Pro already has a 48-megapixel main camera sensor with 12-megapixel sensors for the ultra-wide and telephoto versions.

We have heard that Apple will introduce a new button called the “Capture” button on the iPhone 16 series. This button will be located on the right side of the handset, below the power button.

Apple’s September launch event brought some decent updates to the iPhone 15 Pro line, including titanium designs and USB-C. The Pro Max even got a longer 5x zoom lens. But we didn’t get a folding iPhone.

Apple is planning to enhance the telephoto camera in its future iPhone models, with rumors suggesting that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a 48MP sensor. The sensor will work with the upcoming Apple Vision Pro and allow for high-resolution zoomed images.

Based on these renders, it’s safe to assume that Apple doesn’t plan to change the design too much but is probably contemplating changing up the camera module and adding another button to the side dedicated to launching the camera and working as the shutter switch.
