Apple Expands In-House Manufacturing to Include Camera Sensors

There have been reports that Apple is planning to produce its own camera sensors in-house. This move is part of Apple’s strategy to develop more of its own hardware, including its own wireless chip and processor. Photography has become a critical selling point for iPhones, and Apple sees the technology as core to future developments in mixed-reality and autonomous-driving industries. Developing camera sensors in-house makes sense for Apple in terms of costs and hardware and software optimization. However, it is uncertain when these camera sensors will be available. In addition to camera sensors, Apple is also working on its multipurpose wireless chip and microLED screens, which are expected to first appear on smartwatches before being implemented in other devices like iPhones.
