Apple Smart Home Devices and Aqara Leaks Ahead of CES 2025
Apple’s smart home plans for 2025 and leaked Aqara devices spark interest ahead of CES.
Apple is ramping up its smart home ambitions as rumors circulate about its upcoming products, including new custom in-house wireless chips expected to debut in 2025. These chips are designed to enhance device-to-device communication, a crucial feature for the connected home ecosystem.
Additionally, Apple’s rumored smart display-integrated HomePod is generating attention. Reports indicate that its LCD panel will be produced in China, where production costs are $10-$15 lower than in South Korea, a significant factor for devices with lower production volumes. Industry insiders anticipate the release of multiple smart home products next year, including an updated HomePod mini, a full-sized HomePod, a new Apple TV, and an innovative smart display.
Outside Apple’s ecosystem, TP-Link has introduced its latest smart home accessory, the Tapo P210M. This in-wall smart outlet supports Matter and features energy monitoring via the Tapo app, adding to the growing list of Matter-compatible devices.
Meanwhile, leaked Aqara products have surfaced ahead of CES 2025. Among them are a new presence sensor, an in-wall display, light bulbs, and a camera that stands out—the Aqara G5. The G5 camera offers flexible power options with USB-C and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), full-color night vision, and HomeKit Secure Video support. Aqara has also assured future Matter compatibility for the device.
With CES 2025 approaching, the smart home market is set to see an influx of advanced technologies, reinforcing competition and innovation in the connected home space.
