Apple Unveils New Mac mini Powered by M4 and M4 Pro

The redesigned Mac mini is now smaller, faster, and the first carbon-neutral Mac.

Apple has introduced a redesigned version of its compact desktop, the Mac mini, featuring the new M4 and M4 Pro chips. This latest iteration delivers superior performance in a form factor that is significantly smaller than previous models, measuring just 5 by 5 inches. With up to 1.8x faster CPU and 2.2x faster GPU performance than the M1 Mac mini, it is engineered for both everyday productivity and more demanding tasks such as video editing, gaming, and AI-driven applications.

The M4 Pro chip is designed for professional workloads, offering enhanced multithreaded performance, faster single-threaded speeds, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. It also introduces support for Thunderbolt 5, providing data transfer speeds up to 120 Gb/s. The new Mac mini, starting at $599, also marks Apple’s first carbon-neutral computer, with over 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across its lifecycle.

For users who require even higher performance, the Mac mini with M4 Pro starts at $1,399 and features up to 64GB of unified memory and a 20-core GPU. Both versions of the Mac mini are available for pre-order and will begin shipping on November 8, 2024.
