New MacBook Pros and iMac Models Feature Upgraded Cameras With Center Stage and Desk View
Apple unveils enhanced MacBook Pro and iMac models with upgraded cameras supporting Center Stage and Desk View
Apple recently introduced upgraded models of its MacBook Pro and iMac, featuring a 12-megapixel front camera equipped with Center Stage and Desk View capabilities, designed to improve video quality even under challenging lighting conditions. Center Stage, a feature that keeps users centered within the frame during movement, was previously limited to newer iPad models and Macs using Apple’s external Studio Display. However, the latest MacBook Pro and iMac models now natively support this functionality in video-calling apps such as FaceTime and Zoom without needing additional hardware.
The Desk View function adds further versatility by displaying both the user’s face and an overhead view of their workspace during calls, making it particularly valuable for users who need to share their screen or desk contents simultaneously. This is part of Apple’s broader initiative to enhance virtual collaboration experiences.
Additionally, Apple has rolled out other significant updates across its product lineup, notably the Mac mini, which has received a comprehensive redesign for the first time in over a decade. The new Mac mini features Apple’s latest M4 and M4 Pro chips, an updated, more compact casing, Thunderbolt 5 support, and front-facing USB-C ports. Apple also announced an upgrade for the 24-inch iMac, incorporating the M4 chip with up to a 10-core CPU and GPU, marking a substantial performance boost compared to its predecessor.
Apple’s announcement of the M4 and M4 Max-powered 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models highlights an increase in standard memory to 24GB, addressing the demand for higher performance in professional and creative workflows. These devices, along with the other newly introduced Mac products, are available for pre-order now, with shipping slated to begin on November 8.
