Apple prepares for AI: everything about iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and beyond

Apple has recently released iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and updates across its other platforms, showcasing significant advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence. The company’s new “Apple Intelligence” system is at the forefront of these changes, seamlessly integrating AI capabilities into the iPhone, iPad, and Mac ecosystems.

iOS 18 Enhancements
iPhone users will experience more flexibility with their home screens. The grid system is no longer fixed, allowing users to freely move app icons and even customize their colors with a new tint color picker. In addition, the Control Center will offer more options for third-party app shortcuts, enhancing user customization.

The Photos app has undergone a major redesign, focusing on intelligently organizing images based on memories and events. It will also allow users to filter out screenshots and receipts, ensuring a more curated photo experience.

Security features are a highlight in iOS 18, with users now able to lock and hide specific apps, adding a layer of privacy through Face ID or Touch ID.

macOS Sequoia Innovations
On the Mac side, macOS Sequoia brings iPhone mirroring, enabling users to control their iPhone screens directly from their Mac. The update also introduces a new Passwords app, which goes beyond iCloud Keychain by saving passkeys and verification codes and enabling secure sharing of credentials.

Apple has also incorporated AI image generation into macOS, through the “Image Playground” feature. This tool will allow users to create AI-generated images in various styles, including animation and sketch, directly within macOS.

watchOS and visionOS
The watchOS 11 update brings health tracking to new heights with the introduction of the Vitals app and Training Load, which tracks and rates users’ workout intensity. Meanwhile, visionOS 2, designed for the Apple Vision Pro headset, is set for international expansion with new countries gaining access to the device.

These updates signal Apple’s deepening investment in AI across all its platforms, enhancing user experience through customization, privacy, and health-focused features.
