Apple Working on Smart Doorbell Camera with Face ID Integration

Apple is reportedly developing a new smart doorbell camera equipped with Face ID technology, enabling automatic unlocking of doors. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this device could launch as early as the end of 2025. The innovative camera will use Apple’s Secure Enclave chip to store and process Face ID information securely, similar to how biometric data is handled on other Apple devices.

The doorbell camera is expected to seamlessly integrate with existing third-party HomeKit smart locks, with Apple potentially partnering with a smart lock manufacturer to deliver a comprehensive system upon release. Additionally, the device may feature Apple’s in-house “Proxima” Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination chip, which is rumored to also appear in upcoming HomePod Mini and Apple TV models.

This project aligns with Apple’s broader push into the smart home market under its Apple Intelligence initiative. Alongside the doorbell camera, rumors suggest that Apple is working on other smart home products, including another smart home camera, an Apple-branded television, and new smart home displays. These displays could include an iPad-like device with magnetic wall mounting options and a more advanced unit featuring a robotic arm for enhanced functionality.
