Apple Rumored to Launch Smart Doorbell with Face ID

Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil a new smart doorbell camera that integrates Face ID technology, allowing for automatic door unlocking. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the device could hit the market as early as next year, further expanding Apple’s footprint in smart home technology.

Unlike existing options from brands like Ring and Google, Apple’s smart doorbell would leverage Face ID, similar to the iPhone’s functionality, to recognize users and unlock doors automatically. The doorbell will wirelessly connect to a deadbolt, enabling seamless entry without manual interaction. This innovation is part of Apple’s broader efforts to enhance smart home systems with its proprietary technology.

Reports suggest the device will be compatible with third-party locks already integrated into Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem. However, Apple may collaborate with specific lock manufacturers to offer a complete package at launch. The device is also rumored to feature Apple’s upcoming Proxima wireless chip, which promises robust security and data protection.

In addition to the doorbell camera, Apple is expected to introduce an AI-powered smart home hub featuring a six-inch display. This hub would allow users to control various home functions, play videos, and make FaceTime calls through a dedicated operating system designed for home management.
