Apple to Launch First Smart Home Camera and Health-Focused AirPods by 2026
Apple is developing a smart home security camera and new health-integrated AirPods, aiming for a 2026 release.
Apple is moving into the smart home security market with its first proprietary camera and expanding health features for AirPods, both anticipated to debut in 2026. According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the technology giant has ambitious plans for the smart home camera, with an annual shipment target in the tens of millions. This represents a significant move in a market that currently sees global shipments of around 30-40 million units per year. The device is expected to feature wireless capabilities, tight integration with Apple Intelligence, and full support for Siri.
The Chinese manufacturer Goertek has secured exclusive assembly rights for the camera. This comes after the company resolved previous compliance issues with Apple, reinforcing its manufacturing position. Goertek will also be the primary supplier for the 2026 model of Apple’s health-oriented AirPods.
The new AirPods will integrate advanced health management features inspired by the Apple Watch, although specific functionalities remain undisclosed. Industry forecasts project a steady increase in AirPods shipments, from 48 million units in 2023 to between 65-68 million units by 2026, driven largely by these health advancements.
Kuo emphasized that the development of a smart home camera marks Apple’s strategic shift following the termination of its car project. The camera could serve as a complement to the rumored smart home display, expected to arrive in 2025. Currently, Apple offers HomeKit Secure Video for third-party devices, but this upcoming release would mark its first in-house security camera, likely setting new privacy and security standards.
The launch is expected to coincide with broader adoption of Matter-enabled smart home devices in 2026. As Apple extends its ecosystem, integrating beyond products like the HomePod and Apple TV, this latest initiative underscores a focused push into the smart home space.
