Apple Spring 2024 Announcements: What to Expect

Apple’s spring lineup includes iPhone SE 4, iPad updates, and a new smart home product.

Apple has concluded its 2023 releases with the launch of the M4 Mac lineup, featuring M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips across devices like the iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro. Looking ahead to spring 2024, several significant updates and new products are anticipated.

iPhone SE 4

Apple is expected to unveil the next iteration of its budget-friendly iPhone, the iPhone SE 4. This model will undergo its most substantial transformation since the series began in 2016. The new design will resemble the iPhone 14, dropping the home button and adopting a modern form factor. It will also feature Apple’s first in-house modem, moving away from Qualcomm’s components, and switch to a USB-C connector.

iPad 11

The base iPad model, Apple’s most affordable tablet, is expected to receive its first update in over two years. While no major design changes are likely, support for Apple Intelligence is anticipated. Powered by an A18 chip, this addition could bring advanced functionality to the entry-level iPad.

MacBook Air with M4

The MacBook Air will be refreshed with Apple’s M4 chip next spring. While the current M2 and M3 models already include 16GB of RAM, the new chip promises improved performance. Additional features, such as the Center Stage camera introduced in the latest MacBook Pros, could be included.

M3 iPad Air

Apple’s iPad Air is set for a minor update next spring. The device is likely to include the M3 chip and debut an all-new Magic Keyboard designed specifically for this model.

New Smart Home Product

Apple is venturing further into smart home technology with a new product featuring a display. This innovative device will support Apple Intelligence and offer versatile functionality as both a wall-mountable and speaker-compatible unit. The display is expected to measure approximately six inches, providing an affordable smart home solution.

Updated AirTag

A revised version of the AirTag is also anticipated. This updated model will likely include a more advanced ultra-wideband chipset, though additional details remain unclear.

Software Updates and Future Releases

In addition to hardware updates, Apple plans to roll out iOS 18.4 in the spring. This version will finalize the initial Apple Intelligence features announced at WWDC24, including a revamped Siri. As for larger updates to products like the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, these are expected around mid-2025.

Apple’s spring 2024 announcements signal a blend of groundbreaking advancements and iterative updates, promising something for every tech enthusiast.
