Apple Vision Pro's Guest Mode Could Soon Be Controlled by iPhone
iOS 18.2 code suggests iPhone integration for managing Apple Vision Pro guest mode features.
New developments in Apple’s iOS 18.2 indicate that the Apple Vision Pro headset may soon offer enhanced guest mode controls through an iPhone. Currently, guest mode is operated directly on the Vision Pro device, but this new feature suggests users will be able to manage guest sessions more efficiently via their iPhones, using a Live Activity session.
Once the headset is handed over to a guest, the iPhone would remain a central tool for managing the session, including determining which apps are accessible to the guest. This setup would function similarly to other Apple handoff features, such as Apple TV password inputs or remote access, and would be easily accessible through the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island, provided the guest session is active.
The current guest mode on Vision Pro has certain limitations, including loss of control once the headset is removed or mirrored to an iPhone, which can result in a restrictive user interface. The proposed iPhone integration promises to streamline the experience, making it more convenient for Vision Pro owners to manage guest access and features.
While this feature isn’t yet available for testing—since no beta for visionOS 2.2 has been released—the discovery of the relevant code points toward possible future updates. With Apple’s continued focus on refining its product ecosystem, this addition aligns with broader efforts to improve the Apple Vision Pro’s usability as the company moves towards launching a more mainstream model, possibly by 2026.
