Apple's Vision Pro Release on February 2: What's Included
Apple’s first mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, is set to launch on February 2, with preorders opening on January 19 at 8 a.m. ET. Priced at $3,499, the Vision Pro is designed as a full iOS-ready computer in the form of a VR headset. It aims to blend the real world with virtual objects in the user’s vision.
The Vision Pro will offer 256GB of storage, although details about other storage options are not yet clear. The pricing and release dates for markets outside the US have not been announced.
In terms of accessories, the Vision Pro will come with a variety of head straps, including a “solo knit” and a “dual loop” band to suit different head shapes. The package also includes a Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, an Apple Vision Pro Cover for the front of the device, a Polishing Cloth, Battery, USB-C Charge Cable, and a USB-C Power Adapter.
For those who wear glasses, prescription lenses made by Zeiss will be available for the Vision Pro. The cost is $99 for reader inserts and $149 for prescription lenses, though the process for getting prescriptions filled is yet to be detailed.
Apple has teased some Vision Pro-optimized experiences, including spatial videos and photos, 3D movies, mixed reality versions of FaceTime, and an immersive experience called Encounter Dinosaurs. Full support for all iOS apps and Mac-connected functions is promised, but more specific details about apps available at launch are still to come.
