Blackmagic Design Enhances Camera App for iPhone 16 with New Control Features
Blackmagic Design’s Camera app update adds extensive control and new accessory support for iPhone 16 users
Blackmagic Design has released version 2.1 of its widely-used Camera app for iOS, focusing on enhancements tailored to iPhone 16 users. The latest update introduces Camera Control support, enabling users to manage essential settings—such as zoom, exposure, focus, and ISO—by simply swiping on the Camera Control button. This comes on the heels of version 2.0, which introduced native iPad support in August.
Further simplifying the app’s accessibility, users can now open it directly from the iPhone’s Control Center, Lock Screen, or through Camera Control. This integration offers a streamlined approach to launching and managing camera features quickly.
The update also broadens accessory compatibility by adding support for DockKit-compatible devices, such as the Insta360 Flow Pro gimbal, empowering users to capture stabilized video footage effortlessly on the go.
Additionally, Blackmagic Camera 2.1 provides higher bitrate recording options for both H.264 and H.265 formats, delivering superior video quality without requiring ProRes. This advancement allows users to produce high-quality footage while conserving storage space—an appealing feature for those managing large video files on their devices.
