Blackmagic Design Releases Camera App Update for iPhone 16 with New Features

The latest Blackmagic Camera app update for iOS adds advanced features, optimizing functionality for iPhone 16 users.

Blackmagic Design has launched version 2.1 of its Camera app for iOS, specifically enhancing features for iPhone 16 users. This update introduces the ability to control and record directly from the iPhone 16’s Camera Control, offering users more immediate access to the app’s recording functions. The app now allows adjustments to zoom, exposure, focus, and ISO from the same interface, streamlining the shooting process.

With expanded launching options, users can quickly open the app via the Control Center, Lock Screen, or Camera Control button, making it more accessible for spontaneous recording sessions. Additionally, Blackmagic Cloud integration is now available within the app, allowing users to sign into their Blackmagic Cloud organization account for better workflow management.

Other notable improvements include an enhanced time-lapse display that shows recording frequency and duration during capture, and off-speed recording, which now includes audio and a clearer display indicator for this mode. The app also offers more flexibility for HDMI monitoring, allowing users to limit HDMI resolution to HD while maintaining active previews across all pages.

The update also introduces a bit rate selection option for recording in H.264 and H.265 codecs, giving users more control over file sizes and quality. For users of DockKit-compatible iPhone accessories, the app now includes expanded accessory support.

Specific to the iPhone 16 Pro, the update boosts performance for high-speed ProRes 4K recording, enhancing the efficiency and quality of captured video. Remote monitoring has also seen a performance improvement, particularly when recording with proxies, and a fix ensures that recordings from the front-facing camera are captured in the correct orientation.

This latest update further enhances the professional-grade functionality of the Blackmagic Camera app, making it an even more powerful tool for iPhone 16 users, particularly those looking to shoot high-quality video with ease and flexibility.
