Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive: Revolutionizing Apple Vision Pro Filmmaking

A groundbreaking camera tailored for Apple Immersive Video, offering 8K stereoscopic video and seamless integration with DaVinci Resolve.

Blackmagic Design has unveiled the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, the world’s first commercial camera engineered specifically for capturing Apple Immersive Video, designed for use with Apple Vision Pro. Following its announcement in June 2024, the camera is now available for pre-order and is expected to ship in early 2025.

Equipped with cutting-edge features, the URSA Cine Immersive empowers filmmakers to produce ultra-high-resolution 180-degree immersive video paired with Spatial Audio. The device utilizes a large-format image sensor and a fixed, custom lens system to capture stereoscopic 3D video at an impressive 8160 x 7200 resolution per eye. Its 16 stops of dynamic range and ability to record 90fps to a single Blackmagic RAW file set a new benchmark for immersive filmmaking.

Designed to offer seamless post-production capabilities, Blackmagic Design will enhance its renowned DaVinci Resolve Studio in early 2025. This update will introduce tools tailored for immersive video editing, including a viewer for panning, tilting, and rolling clips, as well as export presets for Apple Immersive Video. Filmmakers can monitor their projects using Apple Vision Pro or standard 2D displays, ensuring precision throughout the creative process.

The camera’s hardware reflects its focus on professional-grade production. Featuring a magnesium alloy chassis reinforced with carbon fiber components, it is equipped with 12G SDI, 10G Ethernet, and USB-C connections. Additionally, its built-in 8TB storage module supports over 120 minutes of 3D video recording. Integration with Blackmagic Cloud enables real-time synchronization, facilitating remote collaboration on demanding projects.

Retailing at $29,995, the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive is positioned as a premium tool for high-end productions. Filmmakers can pre-order it directly from Blackmagic Design, with broader availability through resellers expected later in 2025.
