Final Cut Pro 11 Brings AI-Powered Editing and Spatial Video Support
Apple unveils Final Cut Pro 11 with groundbreaking features like Magnetic Mask, spatial video editing, and enhanced creative tools across Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
Apple has officially launched Final Cut Pro 11, delivering advanced AI-powered features, enhanced creative tools, and seamless compatibility with its latest devices. The update introduces Magnetic Mask, Transcribe to Captions, and spatial video editing, along with powerful upgrades for Final Cut Pro on iPad, Final Cut Camera, and Logic Pro.
Revolutionary Features for Final Cut Pro 11 on Mac
Final Cut Pro 11 leverages Apple’s M-series chips to deliver next-level video editing. Magnetic Mask enables users to isolate people and objects effortlessly without the need for green screens, combining precision with flexibility. The new Transcribe to Captions tool, powered by Apple’s proprietary large language model, allows editors to generate accurate closed captions directly in the timeline. These features join existing AI tools like Smart Conform, Enhance Light and Colour, Smooth Slo-Mo, and Voice Isolation.
The update also includes full support for spatial video editing, enabling projects to be tailored for Apple Vision Pro. Editors can adjust depth positions for titles and footage and preview spatial video projects with new display modes. Projects can be exported directly to Photos or shared through visionOS apps like Vimeo.
Performance and Workflow Enhancements
The Magnetic Timeline, an intuitive trackless editing system, streamlines complex edits while maintaining audio-video synchronization. Optimizations for Apple silicon allow faster playback and export of 4K and 8K ProRes files, while enhanced proxy tools enable lightweight library copies for easier file sharing. Additional tools include multicam editing with seamless angle synchronization and custom export options using Compressor.
Creative Tools Across Devices
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.1 advances touch-first editing with features like Enhance Light and Colour and haptic feedback for Apple Pencil Pro. It introduces new Live Drawing inks, dynamic soundtracks, and modular transitions, enriching video creativity on the go. Meanwhile, Final Cut Camera 1.1, designed for iPhone, supports 4K120 fps recording, Log-encoded HEVC video, and LUT previews, making professional-grade filmmaking more accessible.
Logic Pro Updates
Logic Pro for Mac 11.1 and Logic Pro for iPad 2.1 bring new tools for music production, including the Quantec Room Simulator plug-in. This feature recreates the legendary Quantec QRS reverb, ideal for adding natural acoustics to soundtracks. Additional updates include Reorder Mixer Channels and enhanced plug-in search functionalities.
Availability and Compatibility
Final Cut Pro 11 and Logic Pro 11.1 are available as free updates for existing users, priced at A$499.99 and A$299.99 for new Mac users, respectively. Final Cut Pro for iPad and Logic Pro for iPad can be accessed via subscriptions starting at A$7.99 per month. Final Cut Camera is a free standalone app. The updates require macOS 14.6, iPadOS 17.6, and iOS 17.6 or later.
These new tools underscore Apple’s commitment to empowering creative professionals with innovative solutions that enhance productivity and artistic expression.
