Homey Unveils New Dashboards for Enhanced Smart Home Control
Homey introduces customizable dashboards, providing users with seamless smart home device management.
Today, Homey, a universal smart home platform, launched its latest feature, Homey Dashboards, designed to enhance user control over smart home devices. Available on the Homey app for iOS and Android, this innovative tool enables users to create personalized dashboards featuring widgets for temperature monitoring, energy management, device control, and more.
The feature integrates multiple functionalities into a unified interface, offering capabilities such as monitoring energy usage, adjusting lighting for specific moods, or overseeing home security. With a clean, visually intuitive design, Homey Dashboards supports seamless customization for various use cases. Whether users require a quick-access dashboard for living room devices or a dedicated panel for media room settings, the platform delivers a smooth and tailored experience. Navigation is optimized with a column-based layout, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling, and the Homey app’s Home screen now doubles as a configurable dashboard.
Homey Dashboards includes over 25 built-in widgets covering device controls, automation flows, weather updates, and camera feeds. Additionally, developers can expand its functionality through app-specific widgets, integrating with third-party devices. To simplify discovery, the Homey App Store now highlights apps that support widget integration.
In an effort to include older hardware users, Homey has ensured backward compatibility. While Homey Pro (Early 2023) and Homey Cloud users can access the feature for free, owners of the older Homey Pro models (2016–2019) can unlock the dashboards with a one-time payment of €25.
The rollout of Homey Dashboards aligns with Homey Pro firmware v12.1.0 and app version 9.0.0. Users of older devices can unlock these features via a straightforward update. While some may prefer a free upgrade, offering a paid software option is a practical alternative to requiring new hardware investments.
