How to Modify Camera Control Settings on iPhone 16

One of the cool things about the new Camera Control feature on iPhone 16 is, the fact that it can be used for third-party apps. You can choose to use it for a number of third-party camera apps like Halide, and it also works for the QR Code Scanner feature and Magnifier – also Instagram for some reason. That’s not something I expected to see available out of the box on the iPhone 16 but definitely happy that it is here. And we’re going to show you how to use it in this tutorial.

What is Camera Control?

Camera Control is a new capacitive button that Apple added to the iPhone 16 series this year (all four models), that allows you to have a dedicated shutter button on your phone. It lets you quickly open the camera, take a photo, adjust the aperture, and much more. It works pretty well, but for some, it does seem to be a bit too far up on the side of the phone. Making it hard to use in both portrait and landscape mode, unfortunately.

How to change Camera Control function

First off, jump into the Settings app.

Now tap on Camera.

Next tap on Camera Control at the top.

From here, you’ll see a few options, but towards the middle, you’ll see a list of apps you can use. Including turning it off completely.

Just tap on the app you want Camera Control to open, and you’re good to go.

How to turn off Camera Control

Not everyone likes Camera Control, and thankfully, you can turn it off. Here’s how you do that.

First off, jump into the Settings app.

Now tap on Camera.

Next tap on Camera Control at the top.

Now there’s a list of apps in the center of the page, scroll to the bottom to where it says “none” and tap on that. Now, when you accidentally tap on the Camera Control, it won’t do a thing. Essentially turning it off.
