Apple Offers Free Camera Repair Programme for iPhone 14 Plus with Defective Rear Camera
Apple announces a free repair initiative for certain iPhone 14 Plus units with rear camera issues due to a manufacturing flaw.
Apple has launched a free repair programme for iPhone 14 Plus users facing a rare rear camera defect. This issue, identified as a manufacturing flaw, impacts a specific range of devices produced between April 10, 2023, and April 28, 2024. Affected iPhone 14 Plus units may experience problems with their rear camera, which can prevent the camera preview from displaying and render the camera unusable.
To determine eligibility, users are instructed to visit Apple’s support page and enter their iPhone’s serial number. If the device qualifies, Apple will provide the repair service at no cost. Additionally, customers who have previously paid to fix this issue can apply for a refund.
Eligible users can opt for different repair options: visiting an Apple Authorized Service Provider, booking an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or arranging a mail-in repair through Apple Support. Before any repairs begin, Apple will inspect each device to ensure it aligns with the programme criteria.
For devices with damage that may interfere with the camera repair, such as a cracked back glass, Apple advises that these issues must be addressed first, which may incur additional costs.
This repair programme extends up to three years from the original purchase date of each affected iPhone 14 Plus. Apple emphasizes that this initiative is limited to a “very small percentage” of iPhone 14 Plus models and does not apply to other iPhone 14 variants or newer devices.
This programme marks Apple’s first complimentary repair initiative since 2021, when it launched a repair programme for iPhone 12 models with an earpiece issue.
