MKBHD proclaims the iPhone 15 Pro as the ultimate camera phone

MKBHD recently announced the winners of its annual Smartphone Awards for 2023. The iPhone stood out this year, winning in two categories: Best Camera and Best Battery. According to MKBHD, the iPhone 15 Pro takes the lead in the camera category, particularly for its video capture capabilities and consistent camera performance. The new video features, such as recording in ProRes Log and storing directly on an external SSD, were also praised. In terms of battery life, the iPhone 15 Plus outperformed the Pro models due to its 60Hz display, which consumes less power. MKBHD suggests that the iPhone 15 Plus is ideal for those who want a phone that can last all day without needing to be plugged in.

In other categories, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra won Best Big Phone, with its large 6.8-inch screen, impressive battery life, advanced camera system, and included S Pen. The Asus Zenfone 10 was chosen as the Best Small Phone, taking over from Apple’s iPhone mini. Despite not being the smallest, the Zenfone 10 offers a more compact form factor with reasonable hardware. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 also received an honorable mention in this category for its premium foldable design.

For the Best Value category, the Samsung Galaxy A54 was recognized for its affordable price tag and essential features. The Google Pixel 7A received an honorable mention in this category. Lastly, the Google Pixel 8 was crowned Phone of the Year. With its improved display, software features, and a promise of seven years of software updates from Google, the Pixel 8 was praised as a well-rounded package at a competitive price.
