iPhone 16 Camera Outperforms Galaxy S24 Ultra in DxOMark Test
DxOMark ranks iPhone 16’s camera highly, outperforming the Galaxy S24 Ultra with strong HDR performance and accurate skin tones.
DxOMark has evaluated the camera of Apple’s new iPhone 16, ranking it among the top 20 devices in its camera rating with a score of 147 points. This places the iPhone 16 ahead of key competitors, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and previous iPhone models such as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The experts at DxOMark praised the iPhone 16 for its impressive performance in HDR mode, highlighting its high brightness and excellent contrast. They also noted the accurate reproduction of skin tones in both photos and videos, which contributed to the overall appeal of the camera. The iPhone 16’s autofocus system was commended for being both fast and precise, while indoor photography stood out for its remarkable level of detail. Video performance was similarly strong, with minimal noise and effective stabilization.
However, despite its strengths, the iPhone 16’s camera does have some drawbacks. The limited dynamic range resulted in clipping highlights in certain images, and noticeable glare and other photo defects were also observed. The lack of a dedicated zoom sensor meant that the iPhone 16’s zoom capabilities were somewhat restricted. In low-light conditions, there was a loss of detail and an increase in noise, particularly in shadowed areas.
While the iPhone 16’s camera shines in several key areas, it still faces challenges in certain situations. Nonetheless, its overall performance has been praised as a significant improvement over previous models, as well as a strong contender against other flagship smartphones on the market.
