iPhone 16 Capture Button to Support Touch and Pressure Sensing for Zoom and Focus
iPhone 16 Capture Button Will Respond to Touch and Pressure for Zooming and Focusing
Apple is planning to add a new “Capture Button” to the iPhone 16 models. This button is intended for taking video and will support various gestures. It is mechanical and responds to pressure and touch. Users can zoom in and out by swiping, focus with a light press, and activate recording with a more forceful press.
The Capture Button will be placed on the right side of the iPhone, below the Power button, which is an ideal location for finger access when the iPhone is held horizontally. This location currently houses the mmWave antenna in the U.S., but it will be moved to the left side to accommodate the new button.
Apple believes this button will be a major selling point for the iPhone 16 lineup, enhancing its utility as a camera alternative for shooting horizontal video. However, the design of the iPhone 16 is not yet finalized, so the button’s function and design could change in the future.
