iPhone 16 Pro Users Report Overheating and Freezing Problems

Early iPhone 16 Pro users face persistent freezing issues, camera crashes, and overheating concerns.

Early adopters of the iPhone 16 Pro have reported a series of technical problems, ranging from non-responsive screens to overheating and camera crashes. Although some initial setup issues were expected, the frequency and severity of these problems have left users concerned.

One of the most commonly reported issues is random freezing, which occurs across multiple apps, including the camera and Mail. Many users have had to resort to force restarting their phones, though this solution often fails to resolve the issue entirely. Even after switching from beta versions of iOS 18 to the stable release, users continue to experience these frustrating interruptions.

An investigation into community forums, including Reddit and Apple Discussions, reveals a widespread pattern. Many iPhone 16 Pro users report their devices randomly rebooting, sometimes while charging and other times during normal use. These sudden restarts happen without any prior warning, and the frequency—several times a day for some users—has become a serious annoyance.

Another key problem is lag throughout the device’s interface, which causes buggy animations and further performance drops. In some cases, even the hardware restart option (Power + Volume button) has failed to reboot the phone as expected.

The camera app, in particular, has been a major source of complaints. Several users have shared that the app freezes while zooming or searching for focus. In more severe cases, the app crashes during basic tasks like taking a simple photo. This issue appears especially problematic when using advanced features like 4K video or the ultrawide lens, with some users reporting crashes when editing Live Photos or using the camera integration in other apps like Messages and Photos.

A few users have undergone diagnostic tests through Apple Support, but no definitive solutions have emerged from these investigations. The problem also extends beyond the camera app, with native apps like Settings and Calendar experiencing blackouts or sudden crashes. Third-party apps, such as Amazon, have also been affected.

In some cases, users have faced difficulties with the phone’s built-in keyboard, where it fails to register typed words despite clear touch inputs. This issue has hampered productivity for users who rely on their phones for note-taking and document drafting.

Apple has yet to publicly address these concerns or release a patch to fix these recurring bugs.
