Leaked reports hint at the addition of a powerful 48MP ultra-wide camera on the iPhone 16 Pro

Another report suggests new 48MP ultra-wide camera coming to the iPhone 16 Pro.

Another report has surfaced indicating a significant upgrade for the ultra-wide camera on the Apple iPhone 16 Pro next year. According to Weibo user Instant Digital, the iPhone 16 Pro will be the first to feature a 48MP ultra-wide camera. This new camera is expected to enhance low-light performance when shooting in 0.5x mode.

The 48MP ultra-wide camera is likely to utilize the same pixel binning technology found in the 48MP main camera. This technology combines data from four pixels into one “super pixel,” resulting in improved image quality. With this advancement, the iPhone 16 Pro will have the capability to capture 48MP ProRAW ultra-wide photos.

Back in October, analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities also revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro models would come equipped with this new 48MP ultra-wide camera. This would mark the first upgrade to the ultra-wide camera module in three years.

In addition to the new ultra-wide camera, there are rumors that Apple will incorporate Sony’s new stacked camera sensor design into the iPhone 16 Pro. This two-layer CMOS image sensor is said to offer superior low-light photography and minimize issues such as underexposed or overexposed photos.

Overall, the iPhone 16 Pro seems to be in line for substantial camera improvements, making it an enticing option for smartphone photography enthusiasts.
