Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro may feature a tetraprism camera and 5x optical zoom capability

The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to come with a tetraprism camera with 5x zoom. The iPhone 15 Pro Max was Apple’s first phone to feature a periscope zoom lens, which uses a tetraprism lens to improve optical zoom. The iPhone 15 Pro, however, lacks a zoom camera due to space limitations and cost considerations. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will also have periscope lenses. The adoption of periscope cameras may result in larger screen sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max to accommodate the increased camera size. As for the tetraprism lens, Largan is the exclusive supplier for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and is expected to continue supplying the lens for future iPhone models. Both Apple and Huawei are experiencing growth in periscope zoom camera shipments, with an estimated 160% increase in iPhones with tetraprism cameras for Apple.
