iPhone 16 Pro rumored to adopt the standout feature from the 15 Pro Max - here's what you should know

This year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max features a tetraprism telephoto lens, giving it the longest optical zoom range in an iPhone at 5x. It seems that next year’s iPhone 16 Pro may adopt this feature based on a recent Apple supply chain report. Component suppliers Lagan and LG Innotek have seen increased Apple orders for 2024, specifically for the folded zoom actuators used in the tetraprism design. The original folded zoom components were primarily supplied by LG Innotek, but production lags occurred due to high demand. Apple is now using LG Innotek as the primary production source to ensure faster shipments. The tetraprism lens allows for a greater focal range, making the iPhone 15 Pro Max unique in Apple’s lineup. It uses a folded glass structure to extend the reach of light, resulting in enhanced zoom capabilities. The iPhone 15 Pro Max also benefits from optical image stabilization (OIS) and the Photonic Engine to deliver sharp and defined photos. If the predictions are correct, the iPhone 16 Pro could have one of the largest focal ranges on the market, potentially second to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It is expected to come with an improved version of OIS and could offer well-defined images from any distance. The more powerful iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to have even crisper images with an improved stabilization program and a longer 6x telephoto range.
