Apple Expected to Rebrand iPhone SE 4 as iPhone 16e
Apple may unveil the iPhone 16e in March 2025, featuring major design and hardware upgrades.
Apple is reportedly planning to rebrand its forthcoming iPhone SE 4 under the name iPhone 16e, marking a pivotal change in its product lineup. According to leaks from a Weibo tipster, Fixed Focus Digital, the iPhone 16e is expected to launch as early as March 2025, with Apple eliminating the SE branding altogether. The device will be integrated into the iPhone 16 series, bringing an array of significant updates.
The iPhone 16e is set to move away from the iPhone 8-inspired design, opting instead for a modern aesthetic resembling the iPhone XR or iPhone 12. The new design will feature a larger 6.06-inch OLED display, an upgrade from the previous 4.7-inch LCD screen, offering improved color accuracy and a more immersive visual experience.
In addition to the design overhaul, the iPhone 16e is likely to replace Touch ID with Face ID, aligning with Apple’s recent devices. This change allows for slimmer bezels, contributing to a contemporary full-screen appearance. With the same screen size as the standard iPhone 16, the 16e will seamlessly fit into the broader iPhone lineup.
Under the hood, the device is anticipated to house the rumored A18 chipset, delivering enhanced performance and positioning it closer in capability to the flagship iPhone 16 series. Upgrades include 8GB of RAM—doubling from 4GB in the previous generation—and 128GB of storage, ensuring better multitasking and support for more demanding applications, particularly those leveraging Apple’s latest AI and machine learning technologies.
The iPhone 16e is expected to feature a 48MP rear camera, bringing its imaging capabilities in line with the iPhone 16. Equipped with Apple’s advanced Fusion lens, the camera will support high-quality standard and 2x zoom photography, delivering sharp and detailed results. Additionally, the device will include a 12MP TrueDepth front camera, designed to enhance selfies and video calls with improved depth-sensing and portrait functionality.
Apple’s decision to rebrand and integrate this model into the iPhone 16 series underscores its intent to offer a more unified and advanced product portfolio, signaling the company’s strategic focus on innovation and design consistency.
