Leaked Details on iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 Features
Leaks suggest no 5x zoom for iPhone 17 and a display upgrade for iPhone 18
Recent leaks have shed light on the expected features of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 18, with key details hinting at camera, display, and chip upgrades in future models.
According to a report from South Korean outlet The Elec, Apple’s suppliers are gearing up for new camera production for the iPhone 17 Pro, but the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air (or iPhone 17 Slim) will not feature the expected periscope lenses. As a result, there will be no 5x optical zoom on the standard models next year, a feature that is likely reserved for the Pro versions of the iPhone 17 series.
In terms of displays, there’s a major update on the horizon for the iPhone 18, which is expected to debut in September 2026. Insider @Jukanlosreve suggests that the iPhone 18 will feature an LTPO+ display, an advancement of the existing LTPO technology. LTPO enables dynamic refresh rates and always-on displays while conserving battery life. Although the exact enhancements of the LTPO+ version are not clear, it is expected to bring improvements in both performance and power efficiency, reducing the strain on battery life even further.
Regarding processing power, it appears the iPhone 17 will feature the A19 chip, which is not expected to bring significant advancements. However, the iPhone 18 will likely be powered by the A20 chip, which may be developed with the help of Intel. This potential shift in manufacturing partners could mark a major change, making the iPhone 18 a more enticing option for users looking to upgrade in 2026.
These leaks suggest that those eyeing a major upgrade might want to hold off until the iPhone 18, which could offer more substantial innovations in both hardware and performance.
