iPhone 17 Air: New Design, Specs, and Possible Changes Ahead
Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Air may bring a slimmer design, single-camera setup, and upgraded front-facing camera
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 17 Air, also referred to as the Slim model, at next year’s iPhone event. Recent reports suggest that this model could replace the current iPhone Plus lineup. Analysts have speculated that, while the device may be less powerful and more expensive than some expected, it will offer unique design changes and upgraded features.
According to Haitong Securities analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display and a new A19 chip, which is built using the same technology as the A18 chips found in earlier models. Additionally, it will be equipped with 8GB of RAM, a 24MP front-facing camera, and a single 48MP rear camera—a surprising choice, as most iPhones have featured dual rear lenses in recent years.
While positioned between the base and Pro models, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to lack some of the Pro model’s advanced features. The Pro lineup will likely include the A19 Pro chip, more RAM, and a narrower Dynamic Island. All iPhone 17 Pro models may also feature upgraded 48MP main cameras, while the front-facing camera will match the Air’s 24MP upgrade. The regular iPhone 17 will reportedly keep the 12MP ultra-wide lens.
The iPhone 17 Air may debut with a slimmer form factor, thanks to rumored new display technology and potential software optimizations. However, this redesign could come with a smaller battery. As the launch is still a year away, further details could change, but the current outlook presents an interesting evolution for the iPhone lineup.
