Apple Plans Radical iPhone 17 Design Shift with Central Camera
iPhone 17 to feature a single central camera with combined wide-angle and telephoto functionality.
Apple is reportedly planning a bold new design for the iPhone 17, departing from the established dual-camera setup in favor of a single central camera for one of its models. According to recent leaks, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a single rear camera that integrates the functionality of a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2x telephoto lens. This represents a significant shift in the design philosophy of Apple’s flagship smartphone lineup.
The standout feature of this redesign is the relocation of the camera to the center of the back panel, creating a unique and recognizable aesthetic. Other models in the iPhone 17 series will retain the dual-camera configuration but with a horizontal alignment, distinguishing them from the Air variant.
Such a dramatic change is unusual for Apple, although a similar approach was recently showcased by the tech startup Nothing, which has gained attention for its innovative design language.
In addition to the design overhaul, the iPhone 17 is expected to carry a higher price tag than its predecessors. Estimates suggest the cost could range between USD 1299 and USD 1499, making it one of the most expensive iPhone models to date.
Apple’s decision to introduce these changes highlights its ongoing efforts to innovate and set its devices apart in an increasingly competitive market.
