iPhone 17 Pro Models to Feature Major Camera Upgrades

The iPhone 17 Pro series will see significant improvements in camera capabilities, including new front and telephoto lenses.

As the iPhone 16 series makes its way to the market, Apple is already setting the stage for the next iteration of its flagship smartphone. The upcoming iPhone 17 series is currently in early development, and while some details are yet to be finalized, key specifications are starting to emerge. According to reliable industry analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 Pro models will boast a notable camera upgrade.

Both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will reportedly feature new 48 MP ultra-wide and 24 MP front-facing cameras, an improvement over the 12 MP sensors found in the iPhone 16 Pro models. This upgrade is expected to enhance selfie quality and improve optical zoom performance for photography. Additionally, these Pro models will come with 12GB of RAM, a significant increase compared to the 8GB in the current generation.

The design of the iPhone 17 Pro Max is also expected to evolve, with a thinner Dynamic Island enabled by smaller “metalens” technology for Face ID. This shift could provide users with more usable screen space. The display sizes are expected to remain the same as their predecessors, with the iPhone 17 Pro at 6.3 inches and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at 6.9 inches. Both models will be powered by Apple’s A19 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s 3 nm process.

In addition to the Pro models, Apple is planning to introduce a new iPhone 17 Air, which will replace the iPhone 17 Plus. The “Air” model, slated to have a slimmer design, will come with a 6.6-inch display, 8GB of RAM, and a 48MP rear camera along with the new 24MP front camera. It will also be equipped with Apple’s upcoming A19 chip and is rumored to feature the company’s first 5G modem.

With the iPhone 17 series set for release in September 2025, some details may change as the development process continues, but these early leaks offer a promising glimpse of what’s to come.
