iPhone 17 Pro May Signal the End of Dynamic Island

Rumors suggest a smaller Dynamic Island and thinner display borders for the iPhone 17 Pro.

Rumors from the Chinese site MyDrivers, as cited by Wccftech, indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro might see significant changes to its front design, including a downsized Dynamic Island. This pill-shaped front camera module, first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro, has been praised for its interactive notifications and animations, replacing the once-criticized notch. However, reports suggest that Apple could further minimize or even eliminate the Dynamic Island in pursuit of its long-term goal of an all-screen iPhone design, which may come to fruition as early as 2026.

In addition to the potential redesign of the Dynamic Island, MyDrivers also noted that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature narrower display borders compared to its predecessors. While detailed specifications about the new Pro model remain limited, the lineup is rumored to include a regular iPhone 17 and an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. The Air model is reportedly positioned to become the slimmest iPhone ever created, though Apple is reportedly facing challenges related to battery size in achieving this ambitious design.

For fans of the Dynamic Island, its downsizing could mark the beginning of its gradual phase-out. As Apple continues to innovate its flagship devices, the iPhone 17 Pro might represent a transitional moment toward a completely bezel-free display.
