iPhone 17 Pro Max: New Camera Design Rumors and Speculations
Conflicting reports emerge about the iPhone 17 Pro Max camera design and material choices.
Reports regarding the design of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max’s rear camera setup are generating mixed reactions. Recently shared renders showcased a horizontal camera bar design, diverging from the triangular lens arrangement familiar in earlier models. The renders, originating from a Russian YouTube channel, suggested that Apple might be adopting a design style reminiscent of Google’s Pixel series since 2021.
However, a Weibo leaker known as “Instant Digital” disputes this claim, asserting that while the iPhone 17 series will feature a redesigned rear camera island, the triangular arrangement of the three lenses will remain. According to the leaker, the horizontal camera bar is not part of the design changes planned for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Instead, the updates will be less radical and more aligned with previous models.
“My source told me that the appearance of the back has indeed changed, but the layout of the three cameras is still triangular, not the horizontal bar spread on the internet now,” “Instant Digital” stated.
Another rumor about Apple reducing its use of titanium in favor of aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro series has also been questioned. “Instant Digital” highlighted the challenges Apple might face in presenting such a material change as a design or performance improvement. Similarly, the speculation that aluminum could replace some of the rear glass panels on these models is also under scrutiny.
Speculation about the horizontal camera bar might not be entirely off-track, as previously leaked images of an “iPhone 17 Air” frame suggested a design that could support such a feature. If accurate, the horizontal camera bar might debut on the iPhone 17 Air while the Pro and Pro Max models maintain their traditional design.
As the iPhone 17 series is still a long way from release, it remains uncertain which of these reports will prove accurate. With limited official information, Apple enthusiasts will need to wait for more concrete evidence before drawing conclusions about the final design of the 2025 Pro models.
