Analyst predicts iPhone 17 Pro Max to feature 48-megapixel Telephoto lens
According to analyst Jeff Pu, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max from Apple is expected to feature a 48-megapixel Telephoto lens. Pu made this prediction in a research note with the Hong Kong-based investment firm Haitong International Securities, focusing on Apple supplier Largan Precision. The lens is rumored to be optimized for use with Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset, which is set to be released in the U.S. in early 2024. However, Pu did not provide any further details regarding the lens or how it will interact with the Vision Pro. It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Pu suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro models would be equipped with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, so the iPhone 17 Pro Max may be the first iPhone to have a rear camera system comprised entirely of 48-megapixel lenses. As of now, Apple’s current iPhone 15 Pro models come with a 48-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens.
