iPhone 17 Series to Bring Radical Design Changes Across the Range

The iPhone 17 series, set to launch next fall, is rumored to feature significant design changes across the lineup. Reports suggest a new super-slim model, dubbed the iPhone 17 Air, will offer a fresh aesthetic distinct from any prior iPhone. Meanwhile, the Pro models are also expected to receive notable updates.

According to a report by The Information, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will no longer feature titanium frames, marking a shift just a year after titanium was introduced with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in 2023. Instead, the upcoming series may transition to aluminum frames across all models, including the standard iPhone 17.

One of the most striking changes is expected on the rear design of the Pro and Pro Max models. The upper portion of the back will reportedly include a larger rectangular aluminum camera bump, replacing the traditional 3D glass found in previous designs. The lower half will remain glass to support wireless charging. This two-material approach presents potential challenges for Apple’s characteristic seamless design but could offer a fresh visual distinction.

The camera module’s shape, currently a squarish rectangle, may or may not undergo further changes. The decision to place the camera system against an aluminum backdrop is speculated to enhance durability and aesthetics while retaining compatibility with charging technologies.
