Apple iPhone 17 Slim: Major Design Overhaul and Key Specs Revealed

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Slim is shaping up to be a major departure from previous models, according to multiple reports. Industry analysts have begun to reveal key details about the phone, which is expected to offer a sleeker design and fewer features compared to its counterparts in the iPhone 17 lineup.
Reports from analysts like Jeff Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo indicate that Apple is focusing heavily on form over function with this new device. The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to feature a single rear-facing camera and a 6.6-inch display, deviating from the multi-camera setup seen in recent models. Powered by Apple’s upcoming A19 chip, the phone will come equipped with 8GB of RAM and a 24MP front camera, while the rear will sport a single 48MP lens.
Jeff Pu recently reinforced many of these points in an investor note, adding that the iPhone 17 Slim will likely replace the current iPhone Plus model, though it’s unclear whether this shift is related to price or screen size. The phone is expected to be built with an aluminum casing and rely entirely on Face ID for biometrics.
In addition to the Slim model, Pu highlighted other developments in the iPhone 17 lineup. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are both expected to include 12GB of RAM and will run on a more advanced A19 Pro chip. Notably, the Pro Max will also feature a narrowed Dynamic Island display, made possible by Apple’s “metalens” technology, which could significantly reduce the size of the Face ID sensor. This will be exclusive to the Pro Max model, while other versions will retain the current design.
All models in the iPhone 17 lineup are anticipated to feature an upgraded 24MP front-facing camera, a considerable leap from the 12MP sensor found in existing iPhones.
With the iPhone 17 Slim poised to redefine Apple’s approach to smartphone design, the company’s emphasis on a more streamlined form is evident. However, its true impact will remain unclear until Apple officially unveils the iPhone 17 lineup, which is expected to be announced in September 2025.
