Noted industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently confirmed that Apple’s supply chain partners, Sunny Optical and Luxshare, will be responsible for producing the camera’s core components. Sunny Optical will reportedly lead as the primary shutter supplier, with Luxshare supporting as a secondary provider. Largan Precision is also expected to contribute, likely as a secondary variable aperture lens supplier.

While the shift to variable aperture technology could mean higher production costs for the iPhone 18 Pro, this development may be justified by the enhanced photo quality and versatility it offers users. Kuo’s statement specifically focuses on the iPhone 18 Pro, suggesting that this feature may not extend to earlier models like the iPhone 17 series.
