Apple's Budget iPhone SE 4 to Launch with Major Upgrades in 2025
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to bring significant changes including a 48MP camera, OLED display, and USB-C port, targeting a budget-friendly market.
Apple is reportedly planning significant upgrades for its next budget iPhone, the iPhone SE 4, which is expected to launch in early 2025. According to industry sources from ET News, the SE 4 will depart from its predecessor’s design, featuring a range of improvements that align it more closely with Apple’s higher-end models, while maintaining its budget-friendly price point.
The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing TrueDepth camera, a notable upgrade from the iPhone SE 3’s 12MP rear and 7MP front cameras. LG Innotek will provide the camera modules, while Foxconn and Cowell Electronics will supply additional components. While the camera system will be similar to that of the iPhone 16, the SE 4 will not include an ultrawide lens.
In terms of design, the SE 4 will adopt a more modern all-display look, similar to the iPhone 14, eliminating the physical home button in favor of Face ID technology. The device will feature a 6.06-inch OLED display, marking a shift from the older LCD screens used in previous SE models.
The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to be equipped with a USB-C port, a feature that will align it with the latest iPhone models. Additionally, the device may come with 8GB of RAM, supporting enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities. A new Action button could replace the traditional mute switch, offering more functionality.
Display panels for the SE 4 are expected to come from LG Display and BOE, with LG Display contributing approximately 25-35% of the components. Despite the upgraded features, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to remain in the budget segment, with a projected price of around $400.
With a launch slated for the first quarter of 2025, the iPhone SE 4 could appeal to consumers seeking a more affordable iPhone with upgraded specifications and features.
