Apple Announces Repair Program for iPhone 14 Plus Camera Issue

Apple offers free repairs for iPhone 14 Plus units experiencing rear camera issues, with eligibility based on serial numbers.

Apple has launched a repair initiative to address a specific camera problem affecting certain iPhone 14 Plus models. The company has identified an issue where the rear camera fails to display a preview image. This malfunction is limited to a small number of units manufactured over a 12-month span, from April 10, 2023, to April 28, 2024.

Owners of affected iPhone 14 Plus models are eligible for complimentary repairs. These repairs will be conducted at authorized Apple service centers. To determine if a device qualifies, users must enter their phone’s serial number on Apple’s designated support page.

To find the serial number, iPhone 14 Plus users should open the Settings app, tap on General, and then select About. The serial number will be displayed, and it can be copied by pressing and holding the number. Once copied, it should be entered on Apple’s support page to check for eligibility.

If a device has existing damage, such as a cracked rear glass, that could impede the camera repair process, that damage must be fixed first. While Apple will cover the cost of the camera repair, additional repairs for other damages may incur a fee.

Additionally, for those who previously paid for a rear camera repair on an eligible iPhone 14 Plus model, Apple is offering refunds. Users who fall into this category should contact Apple to begin the refund process.

Apple’s repair program will cover eligible devices for three years from the original purchase date, providing ample time for users to have their devices inspected and repaired as needed.
