Apple Introduces Free Repair Program for iPhone 14 Plus Rear Camera Issue
Apple addresses iPhone 14 Plus rear camera preview issue, offering free repairs and refunds.
Apple has launched a new service program for the iPhone 14 Plus to address a rear camera malfunction that prevents users from seeing a preview. This initiative includes free repairs and offers refunds for customers who previously paid for repairs related to this issue. An online page is now available for users to check if their device is affected by entering the serial number.
According to Apple, iPhone 14 Plus models manufactured between April 10, 2023, and April 28, 2024, may experience this problem. Although the company produced millions of units within this period, it indicated that only a “very small percentage” of devices are impacted by the issue. Apple clarified that the problem affects only the iPhone 14 Plus model and does not include the standard iPhone 14 or devices purchased in 2022 or the early months of 2023.
For users who suspect their iPhone 14 Plus may be affected, they can visit Apple’s Support Service Program page, enter their serial number, and determine if they are eligible for the repair. To locate the serial number, users should go to Settings, tap General, then About, and scroll down to find the Serial Number.
If a device is identified as eligible, users can schedule an appointment with an authorized Apple service center for inspection and repair. Apple notes that any additional issues with the device might need to be resolved first, as only the camera repair is covered free of charge under this program. Customers who previously paid for camera repairs related to this issue are eligible for a refund.
This service program covers the iPhone 14 Plus for three years from the original purchase date. Apple has implemented similar repair programs in the past, such as one in 2021 that addressed earpiece and speaker issues in the iPhone 12 lineup.
