The iPhone 20 Pro May Introduce a Reliable 5X Periscope Lens
Apple is rumored to be launching the iPhone 16 Pro, which will feature a 5x periscope camera. This is a similar setup to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with no significant improvements expected. It is possible that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a better telephoto lens. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 12 MP telephoto camera with a folded optics system that allows for lossless zoom at 5x level, while the iPhone 15 Pro has a conventional telephoto module with 3x zoom due to space constraints. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a larger display panel, resulting in a bigger overall size, which may accommodate the periscope camera. Recent leaks suggest that the periscope lens on the iPhone 16 Pro will be identical to that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max in terms of imaging capabilities and sensor size. The telephoto camera module of the iPhone 16 Pro is said to have a layout similar to a periscope camera and is comparable to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. As for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it is unclear whether its telephoto lens will be the same or will see any improvements. The iPhone 16 Pro duo is also rumored to have a higher resolution ultra-wide camera, with 48 MP compared to the current 12 MP sensor. This increase in resolution will likely result in better image quality, possibly due to the use of pixel binning.
