Kwikset has introduced the Halo Select, a new compact retrofit smart lock designed to integrate smoothly with modern smart home systems. This device, which works over Wi-Fi and supports Matter via Thread, is equipped with a built-in exterior keypad, providing enhanced access control and versatility. Ecobee also made headlines with its latest foray into smart home technology, unveiling a new partnership with Assa Abloy brands August and Yale. This collaboration allows users to unlock compatible smart locks directly from a live view feature, streamlining entry management and elevating the user experience.

Meanwhile, an innovative 3D-printed iPhone dock by Scott Yu-Jan has gained viral attention. The dock, now adapted by Overwerk for wider compatibility, accommodates both versions of Apple’s MagSafe chargers and supports additional phone models, including some cases. The dock, initially a DIY solution, is now available for preorder, bringing the convenience of Apple’s StandBy feature to a broader audience.

On the app front, the popular iPhone and iPad application, Controller for HomeKit, has rolled out its latest update, version 7.2. This release expands the app’s functionality by adding support for TVs and enabling integration with Apple’s Control Center, providing users with improved device management options.

Lastly, Govee has introduced a smart ice maker, which, although currently controlled via the Govee app, is set to receive Matter support in the near future. This hands-on addition to the smart home kitchen lineup is designed to integrate with broader smart home ecosystems, making it a noteworthy option for tech-savvy consumers looking to enhance their kitchen appliances.
