LG Innotek to Invest 375.9 Billion Won in Camera Module Facility Upgrade
Investment aims to enhance production for iPhone 17 camera modules with upgraded features.
LG Innotek has announced a significant investment of 375.9 billion won to upgrade its camera module production facilities in South Korea. The initiative aims to meet the demand for upcoming iPhone models and improve competitiveness in the high-tech parts industry.
The investment is scheduled to continue until December 2025, targeting the production of advanced camera modules for Apple’s iPhone 17, slated for release next year. According to industry insiders, Apple plans to enhance the specifications of its smartphone cameras, including incorporating folded zoom technology, which will remain exclusive to the Pro models, as it did with the iPhone 16 lineup.
As Apple’s largest supplier of camera modules, LG Innotek maintains substantial production capacity. This latest investment appears to focus on upgrading machinery and equipment within its existing facilities to ensure they align with Apple’s evolving technical requirements.
In the past, LG Innotek allocated 1 trillion won annually to its camera module facilities in both 2022 and 2023. However, its spending dropped to 383 billion won in 2024, aligning with its planned expenditure for 2025.
Other key players in Apple’s camera module supply chain include Foxconn and Cowell, though LG Innotek retains a leading position within this competitive landscape.
