Apple Unveils 2024 M4 MacBook Pro with New Chip and Enhanced Features

Apple launches the new M4 MacBook Pro with advanced chip options, improved display, and longer battery life.

Apple has officially introduced the highly anticipated 2024 MacBook Pro, marking a significant upgrade with the debut of the M4 chip series. Released closely following the launch of the M4 iMac, the new MacBook Pro comes in three distinct configurations: the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max. Each of these options is optimized to utilize Apple Intelligence’s new features, including updated Writing Tools and Siri advancements.

The base model MacBook Pro, equipped with the M4 chip, starts at $1,599. This model is offered in both black and silver, with a 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display that reaches up to 1,000 nits of brightness, ensuring vibrant visuals and reduced glare thanks to a new nano-texture option. The base configuration includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, 16GB of memory, and boasts twice the RAM of the previous M3 model. An added port is now available, enhancing the MacBook Pro’s connectivity without needing an upgrade.

For users seeking more power, the M4 Pro and M4 Max models not only bring faster performance but also introduce Thunderbolt 5 ports, providing even greater data transfer speeds. The display remains consistent across all M4 models, ensuring the same high-resolution, HDR-capable experience with up to 1,000 nits brightness, ideal for detailed visual work.

Video capabilities have been enhanced with a 12MP Center Stage camera that automatically follows the user, ensuring clarity and flexibility during video calls. Additionally, Apple claims these laptops can achieve up to 24 hours of battery life, a leap forward from the previous M3 Max model’s performance in testing. This battery life increase, paired with second-generation 3-nanometer technology in the M4 chips, promises improved efficiency in both power and performance.

The new M4 MacBook Pro models are available for pre-order as of today, with shipping slated for November 8. Pricing begins at $1,599 for the 14-inch model, while the high-end 16-inch variant starts at $2,499, depending on specific configurations. Apple aims to set a new benchmark with these models, as the world awaits real-world tests to confirm the performance metrics.
