Potential Camera Improvements Unveiled for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 17
Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared insights into the significant camera enhancements expected in the upcoming 2024 and 2025 iPhone lineups.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 17 Camera Upgrades
The iPhone 16 Pro, set to feature a 6.27-inch display, will introduce the tetraprism zoom camera from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, promising a substantial upgrade for users. The camera improvements continue with both iPhone 16 Pro models upgrading the 12MP ultrawide angle camera to an impressive 48MP unit, maintaining the ability to output pixel-binned 12MP shots. The ultrawide camera will retain its 6P lens design.
A noteworthy advancement comes to the selfie camera, with reports indicating that all iPhone 17 models will boast a new 24MP front-facing camera featuring a 6P lens – a significant leap from the current 12MP 5P unit on existing iPhones.
Ming-Chi Kuo highlights Genius (Yujingguang) as the exclusive supplier for these new ultrawide and selfie camera modules. This development is expected to lead to a substantial increase in revenue for Genius in the second half of 2024 and 2H25. Stay tuned for more updates as the official unveiling of these iPhones approaches.
