Starling Home Hub 14.2 enhances HomeKit compatibility for early Nest camera models
Starling Home Hub 14.2 is an update that brings significant improvements to the quality and functionality of Google cameras when used with HomeKit. The firmware update enhances video quality for first-generation Nest cameras such as Nest Cam IQ, Nest Cam IQ Outdoor, Nest Hello/Nest Doorbell (1st gen, wired), and Google Nest Hub Max. It doubles the frame rate and resolution on HomeKit, as well as increases the maximum stream limit for these cameras from 1 to 10. This improvement enhances the experience for users who view multiple cameras simultaneously using the grid view on Apple TV.
Furthermore, the firmware updates also enhance the stream load time for all first-generation cameras, including Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor, making the live view in HomeKit much faster. The update also brings improved audio quality for all camera models, including the second-generation 2021+ models of Google Cameras. Additionally, firmware 14.2 adds support for first-gen Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor cameras transferred to the Google Home app Public Preview, with support for HomeKit Secure Video.
