Top 5 Products Apple Stopped Selling in 2023
Apple discontinued several products and accessories in 2023. The iPhone 13 mini, known for its smaller size, was discontinued in September after the introduction of the iPhone 15 series. Although a refurbished version of the iPhone 13 mini is still available on Apple’s online store in the U.S., the iPhone mini line has come to an end. The smallest iPhone currently available from Apple is the iPhone SE, which has a 4.7-inch display with thicker bezels and a Home button. There are rumors that the next iPhone SE will have a larger 6.1-inch display.
In October, Apple discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro. This laptop had a seven-year-old design and was the last Mac to have a Touch Bar instead of physical function keys. The 13-inch MacBook Pro was replaced by the new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, which features the M3 chip and several upgrades over its predecessor, such as a 120Hz ProMotion display, a 1080p camera, and more ports.
The MagSafe Battery Pack, released in 2021, was also discontinued in September. This accessory magnetically attached to the back of the iPhone 12 and newer models, providing additional battery life. However, with the introduction of USB-C ports on all iPhone 15 models, the Lightning charging port on the MagSafe Battery Pack became outdated.
The MagSafe Duo Charger, released in 2020, met the same fate. This $129 foldable charging mat included both a MagSafe charger for iPhones and an Apple Watch magnetic charging puck. Similar to the MagSafe Battery Pack, the MagSafe Duo Charger featured a Lightning charging port.
Apple also stopped selling leather accessories in September. This includes leather iPhone cases, the MagSafe Wallet, Apple Watch bands, and more. Apple made this decision as part of its environmental responsibility efforts and introduced a new FineWoven fabric material for accessories that has a lower carbon footprint compared to leather. However, customers have complained about the new iPhone cases being susceptible to scratches and stains.
In addition to the products mentioned above, Apple also discontinued its iTunes Movie Trailers app and the Apple Music Voice Plan in 2023.
