I have been a big fan of video doorbells for several years and have used most of the popular options out there, including the Eufy Security Video Doorbell S330, Ring Video Doorbell 4, Arlo Essential Video Doorbell and the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4. I also run several POE surveillance cameras and have reviewed options from Hikvision, Annke, Ezviz, and Reolink. Back when electricity was affordable, I used to run Blue Iris on a dedicated server, which allowed me to easily mix and match the cameras I used by connecting them with ONVIF/RTSP. However, since reviewing the Reolink NVR, I ended up switching everything over to Reolink cameras only, as it is a bit more affordable to run.
With the video doorbells I have, they all rely on a battery for power and connect to WiFi as I don’t have easy access to power the cameras from normal doorbell wiring or POE. At some point, I’d like a wired doorbell that can record 24/7 and ideally integrate with either my Reolink NVR or an alternative solution such as Synology Surveillance Station or Blue Iris. To do this, the doorbell would need to support ONVIF or RTSP, and unfortunately, there are not many options on the market that can do this.
